What's this? Did I manage to finish and upload another Nuzlocke update? Why, yes, I did!

I was convinced I could manage to publish new pages at a much quicker pace, but then many things happened and my free time got divided between lots of activities. Now I'm glad I didn't make any promises or schedules. Given how hopeless I am at this, I won't promise anything now either. We'll see if this is going anywhere.

So, what can I say about this update... Ah, yes, the (future) rival appears. I changed his outfit a bit from what he looks like in the games, because come on, it's a hot summer day, what kid is going to wear long pants.

Daisy is fairly young here, about eleven if I remember correctly. Then again, the game never states explicitly how old she is, so let's say she's two years older than Scott (he and Amber are nine).

I curse myself for thinking of drawing a scene in the forest (it's not Viridian Forest, rather a smaller one on Route ). I'm half-decided on teleporting the kids away to the desert, sand should be a lot less difficult and time-consuming to draw.

Fun Fact 1: The sign in the last panel indicates how long it would take to hike to the city. I was inspired by mountain trail signs in my country, which show time rather than distance. Don't know if it's common anywhere else, and it may seem illogical, but there's a method to this madness.

It's finally happening! *blows trumpet*

I can't count the hours spent on this page, but let me tell you, there've been many. It's my first submission in a while, and the first page of my rebooted Nuzlocke run, so I was feeling more than a little self-conscious. I imagine I'll quickly get tired of those blasted leaves. Doing a post-apocalyptic run is getting more and more tempting, I can't draw trees and shrubbery to save my life.

*ahem* All right! I humbly present you Light A Fire: a tale of overcoming difficulties to achieve one's goals, discovering oneself and meeting lots and lots of interesting people and pokémon (like basically any other Nuzlocke run out there). I've worked on the story and characters for quite some time (a few years, no joke) and I still haven't got everything finished, but I figured, hey, when am I gonna be 100% ready? Might as well start now, so maybe I'll manage to finish it before the Sun explodes. No promises though.

Fun fact 1: I took the title from a song by Rachel Taylor. I think it's pretty fitting.

Fun fact 2: I also decided on a whim (stupid me) to name all chapters quoting songs that have something related to fire in the title (burning, smoke, flames and so on) and somewhat accurately describe the mood at the moment. This chapter's song is "Fire and Rain", originally by James Taylor, and covered by a multitude of artists (I chose Dido's version). Obviously it doesn't fit the story exactly (spoiler: there is no character named Susanne), but the general idea is there. It's only the first page, so it might not show right away. Listen at your own risk.
